The financial crisis emerged in 2008 hit Hungary more serious than the western European, also even more than the eastern European countries. The drastic increase of the exchange rates between EUR and HUF but mainly between CHF and HUF caused insolvency in thousands of Hungarian families. The author examines that legal and social environment which allowed the process of irresponsible lending. The category of Law represents the legislation and the financial mechanisms, the category of Morality means the financial moral, the imprudent lending, and Culture involves the financial literacy of the population
