To have a good interaction in the classroom and to increase students understanding of the material provided, students need to give some responses to the teacher in the classroom. This was one of an effective ways to see the interaction between students and the teacher. The purpose of this study was to determine the type and function of student responses in the classroom. This study used a descriptive quantitative method. The study was conducted to determine the level of student responses. Data were collected through observation during the teaching and learning process and interviews with the teacher.
