Sexual assault is a global concern impacting individuals of all ages, races, and socioeconomic statuses. The violation of sexual assault can adversely affect an individual\u27s physical, mental, economic, and social well-being. This literature review examined 25 articles to provide a scope of the current affairs on sexual assault as a pattern of intimate partner violence in the United States. This review explores vulnerable populations, gaslighting tactics, rape myths, and how disbelief reduces survivor reporting and increases trauma, including PTSD.
