Circadian clocks are molecular clocks that govern the temporal control of physiology to preserve homeostasis. The disruption of the circadian rhythm is important in carcinogenesis and aids the development of cancer hallmarks. On the other hand, carcinogenic activities disrupt circadian rhythms directly. In cancer treatment, pharmacological regulation of core clock genes is a novel approach. The use of circadian biology in cancer research opens up new avenues for improving cancer treatment effectiveness.
