A case of recurrent cholangiopancreatitis attributable to the common bile and pancreatic ducts opening Into the margin of a duodenal diverticulum is reported. Surgery is generally indicated for correction. In this case, however, the anterior and distal anatomic location of the diverticulum made it possible for the stasis to be relieved by endoscopic sphincterotomy. It is emphasized that this modality of management may be an alternative to surgery in selected cases
