The cascade connection of electrical networks induces the matrix operation - cascade addition. This work considers two aspects of cascade addition: the relationship between the cascade sum and the chain matrix; and the algebraic problem of cascade subtraction. The subtraction problem is thoroughly analyzed, with necessary and sufficient conditions given for its solution
