International audienceGeometric Modeling is the branch of Computer Science concerned with the efficient representation, manipulation, and analysis of geometry on a computer. The origin of this discipline is curve and surface design for CAD/CAM systems. Today, Geometric Modeling is a well established field with a wide range of applications, including computer graphics, scientific visualization, virtual reality, simulation, and medical imaging, and it attracts researchers with backgrounds in computer science as well as mathematics and engineering.
