Major contributions to our knowledge of American Trichoptera have been made (1934-47) by H. H. Ross, Cornelius Betten, and D. G. Denning. Their investigations, while concentrated in the eastern states, included some of the central states. Betten\u27s work (1934) has been the basis for many recent studies. We know little, however, of the distribution of this order in Texas, even though it occurs abundantly in waters of the State. Most of the records for Texas were made in 1939 by H. H. Ross. In his report (1944), he recorded seven families and thirty species from Texas, ten of which were originally described from the State
