Masculine Characteristics Across Race/Ethnicity, Gender, and Income

The concept of masculinity represents the behaviors and characteristics that are associated with being male. The traditional characteristics that have defined masculinity are mostly representative of a specific type of masculinity, namely White masculinity. This study aims to examine how these characteristics are evaluated across race/ethnicity, gender, and income. To do this, UNC undergraduates were sent an invitation to complete a survey evaluating masculine characteristics, the perceived masculinity and how close they feel to different racial/ethnic groups.
