Entre as missões do Batalhão de Operações Especiais do Rio de Janeiro - Bope-RJ, está o combate ao crime organizado, o resgate de reféns e a contenção de rebeliões. Sendo assim, o estresse é parte integrante da rotina dos militares de elite. As fontes de estresse englobam fatores físicos e mentais que levam a uma resposta fisiológica envolvendo a ativação do sistema adrenal e das cascatas hormonais associadas.
