The effects of nuclear transcription factor inhibitors on P gingivalis and IL-1 stimulation

An important cytokine is monocyte chemoattractant protein-1 (MCP-1). MCP-1 is expressed by osteoblasts and functions to stimulate monocyte recruitment, as well as, bone formation, indirectly, in LEOs. The purpose of this study was to determine if Porphyromonas gingivalis, a common pathogen in LEOs, and interleukin-1 (IL-1), an important host bone resorbing cytokine involved in LEO formation, induce MCP-1 expression via different transcription factors.
