Tato disertační práce byla zaměřena na multidisciplinární charakterizaci interakcí mezi hormony a jejich receptory při kapacitaci spermií, která je finálním krokem maturace spermií u savců a je k oplození vajíčka klíčová. Pro studium byly vybrány tři estrogenní hormony (17β- estradiol (E2), 17α-estradiol (αE2), 17α-ethynylestradiol (EE2)), které jsou součástí znečištění životního prostředí. Tyto hormony, jsou nazývané jako endokrinní disruptory, neboť mohou vyvolat u živočichů poruchy hormonálního systému, a tím negativně ovlivnit fyziologické procesy včetně reprodukce.
