A large number of Hispanic bilingual gifted students go unrecognized by school districts in our country. These are students who are labeled “at risk” by the school system, yet possess high academic and creative potential. This paper will identify current and past definitions of giftedness and inequalities in the identification of Hispanic bilingual gifted students. This paper will explain appropriate identification measures for Hispanic bilingual gifted students. This paper will also give suggestions about how a non-profit organization can be created to improve the education of Hispanic bilingual gifted students by using identification procedures and curriculum designed to specifically meet the needs of these students
