Tradução e cultura nas lendas amazônicas

This research intends to work briefly on issues concerning the relationship between translation and culture, discussing the place of a well-characterized Amazonian literature inserted in a debate about literature itself as a dynamic and heterogeneous system. To this end, firstly the sociocultural and political role of translation, on a more general level, and, more specifically, how to bring Amazonian literature to a nonperipheral place within the Brazilian literary polysystem will be addressed. We understand that there are some translation choices that are better, to do justice for the cultural nature of the chosen texts, since our position is supported by a translation theory which believes that a translation competence into a second language is possible and effective. The translations of the three Amazonian legends, from Brazilian Portuguese to English, namely, "As Amazonas", "Ajuricaba" and the "Lenda de Mani" we intend to contribute to the expansion of Amazonian literature and to the field of translation and culture studies, as well as to the dissemination of the Amazonian culture itself.Pesquisa sem auxílio de agências de fomentoTrabalho de Conclusão de Curso (Graduação)Nesta pesquisa pretendemos trabalhar brevemente questões acerca da relação entre tradução e cultura, problematizando o lugar de uma literatura amazônica bem caracterizada inserida em um debate acerca da literatura ela mesma como um sistema dinâmico e heterogêneo. Para tal, primeiramente, discorrermos sobre o papel sociocultural e político da tradução, em plano mais geral, e, mais especificamente, sobre como trazer a literatura amazônica para um lugar não periférico dentro do polissistema literário brasileiro. Entendemos que há opções tradutórias que melhor fazem jus ao caráter cultural dos textos escolhidos, uma vez que nosso posicionamento é amparado pela teoria da tradução que positiva a competência tradutória para a segunda língua como possível e efetiva. A partir das traduções para o inglês das três lendas amazônicas, a saber, “As Amazonas”, “Ajuricaba” e a “Lenda de Mani”, pretendemos contribuir para a ampliação da literatura na área dos Estudos da Tradução e Cultura, assim como para a divulgação da própria cultura amazônica
