Site Data from an Archaeological Evaluation at 73 Springfield Road, Chelmsford, Essex 2020

This collection comprises site data (an evaluation report, images, a site plan, ceramic building material data and site records) from an archaeological evaluation of land adjacent to 73 Springfield Road undertaken by Archaeology South-East between September and October 2020. Archaeological deposits and features of 19th- and 20th-century date were identified in all six trenches excavated, including agricultural/horticultural and garden soil horizons, part of the brick foundation of a 19th-century greenhouse or hothouse, the slight remains of a brick-built garden path, a cobbled yard surface, a large pit or tree hole, some smaller pits or postholes and a sewer pipe
