A method of handling a biopsy sample using a magnetic field is presented as well as a system for imaging a biopsy sample with a magnetic element and for magnetically handling the biopsy sample. The handling of the sample is done by means of an external magnetic field. Such an external magnetic field can be provided by, for example, the system as exemplary shown in Figure 5, but can also be provided by a user manually. For biopsy handling the inventors of the present invention propose to attach the biopsy to a magnetic element. For example, one can glue the sample either to a permanent magnet or a ferromagnetic material.
