The temporal variability in children's behaviour constitutes a rich source of information about the origins of that behaviour, as well as about learning and development. This information is essential for unravelling how children’s actions are synchronized with those of other people, as in social interaction, or coordinated in a specific task, as during problem solving. In addition, it provides a framework for conceptualizing and understanding how behaviour emerges en develops from the interaction of body, brain and environment.
