Deze studie betreft de vraag of verschillende leesgerelateerde neurocognitieve profielen kunnen worden waargenomen bij – op woordleesvaardigheid gebaseerde – groepen kinderen uit de bovenbouw van het Nederlandse basisonderwijs. Naast een onderscheid tussen normale tot goede lezers en kinderen met een specifieke leesstoornis, worden subgroepen onderscheiden op basis van de aanwezigheid van twee veelvuldig met leesproblemen samengaande ontwikkelingsstoornissen (comorbiditeit), te weten een aandachttekortstoornis met hyperactiviteit (ADHD) en een taalontwikkelingsstoornis (TOS).In het promotieonderzoek zijn twee verschillende leesgerelateerde neurocognitieve onderzoekslijnen uitgewerkt in vijf empirische studies.
