The film-diffusion-limited ion exchange kinetics for the HCl-NaCl and HCl-CaCl2 systems on a Lewatit S100 ion exchanger are investigated. The ion exchange processes are modelled using the Maxwell-Stefan transport equations. The model uses only one fitting parameter. the film thickness, the Maxwell-Stefan equations were found to give a good description of the ion exchange process, Values between 8 and 20 mum were found for the film thickness.</p
