Onderwerp van de studie van Mihaita Popinciuc maken van spinventielen, het meest simpele op spin gebaseerde apparaatje, opgebouwd uit kobalt en pentaceen. Hij onderzocht de eigenschappen van het grensvlak van pentaceen met kobalt in het geval van schone contacten en in het geval van een aluminiumoxide tunnel barrière.
