This project deals with the underlying processes and mechanisms of identity and autonomy development in adolescent girls. The basic question of the project is: how do day-to-day experiences, such as conflicts, shape and form the process of identity development? How do emotions, thoughts and behaviors in real-time relate to the more abstract concepts of identity and autonomy? The project contains two important aims; one is theoretical in nature and deals with the conceptualization of identity on both time-scales. Second, in our empirical work we try to figure out ways of gathering and analyzing the data in ways that maintain the dynamic and idiosyncratic nature of developmental processes
