In this thesis, numerical simulations to calculate water impact loading on offshore structures are presented. The simulations are based on a discrete version of the Navier-Stokes equations that describe the motion of a fluid. Special attention has been paid to the green water problem, where water exceeds the deck level of a ship and flows onto the deck. The results of the simulations have been compared extensively with experimental measurements
