Classification of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck in relation to the risk of lymph node metastasis

Lymph node metastasis in patients with cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) of the head and neck are relatively common in high-risk patients treated in tertiary centres. Early detection and treatment of lymph node metastasis is essential, since it results in a better prognosis. It is important to adequately recognize highrisk cSCC. A clear and uniform international classification system can contribute to the management of these patients.
