Sporen van het slavernijverleden in Fryslân

This book presents Friesland's involvement in the colonial past and slavery associated with it. Short histories of Frisian slave owners and plantation directors; of shipmen, shopkeepers and manufacturers who profited from slave labor; black servants employed by the Frisian elite and Frisian opponents of slavery are linked to locations in the region. In turn, these locations are included in four city walks and three bicycle tours. This richly illustrated book brings the slavery past closer to a wide audience, who get to know Friesland from an unexpected angle
