Plutarch’s Life of Solon is one of our principal providers of bibliographical data for Solon’ but also the source of the majority of the fragments of his poetry. This makes it an interesting showcase for the ways in which archaic lyric poetry such as that of Solon was transmitted. How, where, and for what reasons does Plutarch quote Solon’s poetry in his biography? This is the main question I will be trying to answer in my contribution
