Hand eczema has a large impact on patients. The disease can severely affect patients psychosocially and financially and can influence their occupation. Depression and anxiety are associated with hand eczema. It can also lead to sickness presenteeism and absenteeism from work. Furthermore, hand eczema can induce high costs. Overall patients experience a loss of quality of life. A new measurement instrument that specifically measures this in hand eczema patients is the Quality Of Life in Hand Eczema Questionnaire (QOLHEQ).
