Purpose of review Evidence from clinical trials suggests that angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition has the broadest impact of any class of drugs in cardiovascular medicine, reducing cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. This beneficial effect varies across different patient populations, however.
