Searches for permanent electric dipole moments (EDMs) of fundamental particles provide an opportunity to discover New Physics beyond the present Standard Theory. New ideas for experiments have come up recently which may allow present limits to be lowered substantially, or even unambiguous effects to be found. Such effects are predicted by a variety of speculative models. The identification of potential sources for CP and T-violation will require the study of several systems, all of which have different sensitivities to possible mechanisms generating EDMs.</p
