The Effectiveness of Using Letter Card Media in Indonesian Language Learning in Improving Reading Ability of Class 1 Students at MI Miftahul Ulum Karangsari Weru District, Cirebon Regency

The background of this research is by teachers who are less creative during the learning process where teachers have not used learning media, so students are less enthusiastic during the learning process. This study aims to determine whether the letter card media is effective in improving the reading ability of class I students at MI Miftahul Ulum Karangsari. The research model is a quasi-experimental design using a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this research is some of the students of class I MI Miftahul Ulum Karangsari, the number of which is 65 students which is divided into 2 classes. To obtain the research objectives, the researcher used a student reading test instrument and an observation sheet on teacher activities in data management using descriptive data analysis and hypothesis testing analysis. The results of data analysis using descriptive statistics through letter card media on the reading ability of class I students at MI Miftahul Ulum Karangsari are effective. This can be shown through hypothesis testing with t-test obtained tcount > ttable = 5,983 > 1,999 so from these results it can be seen that letter card media is effective in improving students' reading skills.
