The failure of laminated composite structures is a complex phenomenon. It is preceded by several mechanisms of mechanical degradation of the material which depend on numerous design parameters (draping, stacking sequence, geometry, ...). Although developed since about twenty years, the modeling and simulation of these mechanisms remains a major problem: validations have been carried out only within a restricted field of use and their complexity limits their diffusion in the engineering field.
