Links Performance Inc. presents our device, SmartShifter, an automatic gear shifting system that will interface with existing bicycles. The device uses a control algorithm with feedback to ensure that correct gear is selected. Sensors are used to determine the current state of the bicycle and actuators are used to move the derailleur. The other significant design feature is the user interface unit on the handlebars, which allows the user and the SmartShifter™ system to communicate with each other
