The paper “Family in Islam” is a theoretical discussion on the origin, structure, and function of the institution of family in Muslim culture. The author refers to the religious sources (the Holy Book of Islam – the Koran), theological, and philosophical commentaries of Muslim authors. She also uses culture studies, sociology of family, social geography and journalism concerning the Arab areas. The paper contains an introduction, saying that it is necessary to learn and conduct an interreligious dialogue. Then the foundation and main principles of Islam have been discussed.
