In the article the eight different structures of variable speed permanent magnet motors with NdFeB magnets and magnetic circuit made of a powder soft magnetic composite material Somaloy 500 have been presented and discussed. Two types of motor structures were considered: (a) motors with magnets placed on the outer surface of the rotor, and (b) motors with magnets placed inside of the rotor. The criteria influencing the selection of the magnetic circuit structure are proposed and discussed. The field-circuit models of considered permanent magnet motors are briefly described
