The aim of this paper was to assess the content of Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn and Ni in water and in algae collected in the region of the Makarska Riviera. The samples of water and algae were collected in August 2016 from nine sampling points: Makarska, Podgora, Baska Voda, Split ul. Jana Pawła II, Storbeč, Podstrana, Omiš, Mimice, Dvernik. The concentrations of the elements in the water and in the digested algae samples were determined using the ICP-OES method. The study results indicate anthropogenic enrichment of all studied elements in water, with the exception of manganese. Higher contents of studied elements in water collected in Split were found.
