Flows with a given probability of exceedance are important from the point of view of water management, especially in water reservoirs. By determining these flows, it is possible to design a reservoir adapted to local conditions that will operate in line with the assumed function. Various methods exist in the world for determining the probable maximum flows; these methods are based on various assumptions. The aim of the article is to verify and assess the applicability of the Flood Frequency Analysis (FFA) and the IMGW method for use in catchments of controlled rivers where a retention reservoir was built during the hydrological observation period.
