Acceptance of people with disabilities and integration experiences at school

The issue of acceptance of people with disabilities is multidimensional and can be analysed in relation to various factors. The study presents the results of research on the level of acceptance of people with disabilities by respondents who have had previous contacts with such people at school. Contacts between the respondents and people with disabilities in primary, lower secondary and upper secondary schools were analysed separately. The study involved 313 people, including 156 women (49.84%) and 157 men (50.16%). The average age of the respondents was 34.7 years. The study used The Persons with Disabilities Acceptance Scale by Z. Kazanowski. The results of the research revealed that the respondents declared the highest level of acceptance with regard to the inclusion of people with disabilities in the institutions of social life, while the readiness to recognise their competences was at the lowest level. There were also statistically significant differences between people who had had contacts with students with disabilities at school and those who had not had such experience in accepting support given to people with disabilities.Temat dotyczący akceptacji osób z niepełnosprawnością ma charakter wielowymiarowy i może być analizowany w odniesieniu do różnych czynników. Opracowanie prezentuje wyniki badań poziomu akceptacji osób z niepełnosprawnością w kontekście wcześniejszych kontaktów badanych z takimi osobami w szkole. Oddzielnie analizowano kontakty badanych z osobami z niepełnosprawnością w szkole podstawowej, gimnazjum i szkole ponadgimnazjalnej (średniej).
