The aim of the paper is to consider the problem of political and public communication in selected television debates. In particular, there have been analyzed the strategies of argumentation and vocabulary used in the debates. The main question of the article refers to the problem of the quality of political debates: are they a kind of ritual spectacle, or are they based on rational argumentation?
