The dissertation includes information concerning Personal Rapid Transit systems. The paper is divided into two mutually connected chapters. The first chapter presents the motives of the creation and the history of PRT, along with several examples of these systems. It describes the solutions that are on the most advanced stage of realization (e.g. ULTRA, MISTER, VECTUS). The second chapter comprises a short comparison of the systems mentioned above. Particular attention is drawn to the types of electric motors employed in the systems and the methods of supplying.
