The purpose of his article is an overview and analysis of the drive system used in electrical bikes. Classical and modern drive system are described. The stress is putted on the electrical motors used in that applications. Structure, control and power supply of most recent design are presented. The analysis applies to hub motor type Clyte 408 used as a bike drive. Authors have decided to build a filed-circuit model of the Clyte 408 motor - brushless dc motor with permanent magnet. To built the motor model Flux2D are used. Results of analysis using field-circuit model are compared with the results obtained from tests in laboratory.
