Physical changes of steel caused by fatigue processes affect simultaneously the magnetic permeability and electrical conductivity. Electric and magnetic properties of material describe not only the ability to maintain the established operational parameters, but also characterize the technical condition of machine component. This paper presents the usability of testing the effective permeability and electric al conductivity changes of steel in order to evaluate the condition of machine or equipment. The effective permeability and electrical conductivity of steel is measured by changes of impedance of testing probe.
