One of the most important aspects in choosing the energy conversion system for water Power plants is its efficiency. Small Hydropower Plants, which are mostly run-of-the-river plants, are characterized by necessity of working with changeable hydrological conditions. That is why theirs energy conversion systems should ensure high efficiency in a wide range of water flow. This paper presents efficiency analysis of energy conversion system containing integrated propeller turbine with permanent magnet synchronous generator. In order to obtain high efficiency in a wide range of water flow the variable speed operation method, has been used.
