In this article, authors presented diagnostic method for detecting defects in the squirrel cage induction motors. This method uses the concept of moving RMS value with usage of new diagnostic indicators. This form of non-invasive detection of cage defects in induction motor allows for the rapid diagnosis based on the stator current measurement in only one phase. This fact allows to make a rapid assessment of the cage induction motor without intensive computing. The algorithm can be successfully implemented in a portable measuring devices and multimeters.
