The article presents the results of studies on the use of vibration acceleration signals to assess the damage of the squirrel cage induction motors in the selected transient states. The diagnostic signals registered during the normal transient states, such as the start-up and turn-off the machine, were analyzed. During these transients there are the moments of time when the asymmetry of the rotor or stator can be detected. The research was conducted on a laboratory test bench with the low power squirrel cage induction motor Sg112M-4 allowing to realize the chosen failures.
