If inverter-fed asynchronous motors are used in drive system of a traction vehicle (e.g. tram), then motor performance will not be significantly influenced by distorted input voltage, since this voltage is filtered in DC link circuit of the inverter. However, voltage higher harmonics which are present in rectifier’s output circuit (which depend on number of pulses of transformation circuit consisting of multi-phase transformer and rectifier as well as quality parameters of transformer’s supply voltage, such as THD coefficient) cause deformation of network currents.
