The article presents control strategy for the operation of a variable-speed wind energy conversion system with permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG). The electrical system of wind turbine consists of PMSG, Switch Mode Rectifier (SMR) and Grid Side Converter (GSC). The SMR converter is composed of an uncontrolled diode bridge and a DC/DC boost converter. In the control of the DC/DC boost converter the algorithm of Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) has been applied. The MPPT algorithm allows the wind turbine to operate at maximum value of power coefficient in a wide range of wind speed.
