German consulate in Warsaw has keenly observed the course of the 1905–1907 revolution in Poland. German diplomats have emphasized the national character of the events they described. Their particular concern was the possibility that Russia would allow the autonomy of the Kingdom of Poland and make concessions with respect to Polish language in schools, as this could potentially encourage Polish subjects of emperor Wilhelm II to make similar demands. German diplomats have spoken in favour of a hard and firm approach of Russian authorities to Polish national movement and demonstrations of social nature.
