Diaper dermatitis (DD) is a skin inflammation located in the areas where the diaper contacts the skin. DD is one of the most common skin diseases of infancy and early childhood. It is a common infection in patients with immunodeficiency. Causes of DD are complex and multifactorial. The main predisposing factor for DD is long skin contact with wet environment. Irritated skin is sensitive to Candida albicans infection. The course of the disease is usually mild and the rush is its main symptom. More severe types of the diaper dermatitis include major rush with other symptoms (i.e. swelling, erosions, blisters) in the areas where the diaper contacts the skin.
