Antoniego Małeckiego Juliusz Słowacki w stosunku do współczesnej epoki – studium z historii literaturoznawstwa

The aim of this article is to present the role of monograph of Juliusz Słowacki written by Antoni Małecki (Juliusz Słowacki. Jego dzieła i życie w stosunku do współczesnej epoki, vol. 1 and 2, Lviv 1866-1867) in the development of the history of Polish literature in 19th cen-tury. The setforth book which had followed the example of German and English monographs of Goethe and was reissued and extended on two occasions, became a model to pursue modern literary studies in the second half of 19th century. This article presents not only the pragmatic dimension of personal monograph of such sort – with its role in the institutionali-zation of literary studies and in creation of new forms of scientific communication – but also its structural dimension with the particulars of the genre composition stemming from both positivistic cognitive procedures and the tradition of classic biographical writings
