Profitability of fresh and industrial strawberry production in Poland

In the years 2001 – 2007 studies were conducted on the effectivenes s of strawberry production in 26 horticultural farms of middle - eastern Poland. The farms were divided into two groups depending on whether they were producing strawberries for fresh consumption or for processing. The analysis showed that the profitability of strawberry production depended mainly on fruit yields, market prices and labour costs. In the farms examined, the profitability of fresh strawberry production was higher than that of industrial strawberries
