The aim of this article is to discuss the problem of teaching an informal style in a class of Polish as a foreign language at a basic level. The starting point was constituted by a comment about the status of Polish colloquial language in glottodidactics. Three aspects of the topic determined the scope of this article. The first one was to investigate the knowledge of informal style among foreigners and analyze the reasons why they want to know it. The second one was to present an idea for a class focused on teaching some elements of informal style. The third point was to draw some conclusions extracted from such a class and make some general remarks on the linguistic and cultural competence of foreigners who were already familiar with this...
